The dry season from May to October is the best time for Malawi safari tours, with September and October the peak for wildlife as animals gather at the rivers. November to April is the green season: lush landscapes, excellent birding and fewer visitors. Lake Malawi holidays work all year round.

Five days is enough for a relaxing Lake Malawi holiday. Allow 8 to 10 days to combine a safari with the lake, and around 14 days to see the highlights including Mount Mulanje, Zomba Plateau and Thyolo tea country.
